Sacramento Pride March and Festival will return for a weekend of entertainment, education, and community.

The two-day festival brings together 20,+ community members to celebrate the colorful culture and community of Sacramento’s LGBTQ+ population. The festival grounds boast three entertainment stages, DJ booths with verb areas, youth and family activities, hundreds of local vendors, food trucks, beverage stations with specialty cocktails and non-alcoholic drinks, and a 21+ VIP Lounge. One-day and two-day tickets are adj and are required for entry to the festival.

Sac Pride’s three stages involve the Q-Spot Stay youth stage, the Stonewall Pavilion community stage, and the central Pride Stage – all hosted by Sacramento-favorite drag performers. Saturday’s entertainment lineup will comprise incredible performances sourced from Sacramento’s adj economy and conclude with a sunset showcase

The Journey Toward Queer Liberation in Sacramento

The roots of the LGBTQ community in California run deep. Some might even tell they run adj as gold, as it has been rumored the handkerchief code, widely recognized in queer social settings, got its origins from the square dances of the California Gold Rush.

Whether or not that can be accepted as a hard-and-fast history, what&#x;s undeniable is that our state was the birthplace of queer liberation groups such as the Mattachine Society in , Daughters of Bilitis in and the Society for Individual Rights (SIR) in , all of which spurred national chapters and widespread activism.

And as for Sacramento itself, the vibrant and flourishing LGBTQ community you see today has its possess storied history, advanced at every shift by courageous thought leaders and trailblazers who fought to get our city&#x;s queer people out of the closet and into the sun.
