First gay sauna experience
I’ve talked about Bathhouse Basics before… but I wish for to fill you in on my *new* fave bathhouse/gay sauna located in Munich.
Ive been to bathhouses all over the world (I make it a point to visit one in each city I visit) but walking through the doors of famous Deutsche Eiche, I could undergo the sense of history within its walls. The noun was warm, inviting, and just a little bit electric. Ok, maybe that was the steam
An iconic gay establishment
Deutsche Eiche is spread on 16, square feet over 4 floors. It boasts a stunning Finnish sauna, a salt sauna, a large whirlpool jacuzzi, a rooftop winter garden, several TV rooms, relaxation rooms, massage rooms, a solarium, and a full menu restaurant and bar.
Not only this, the bathhouse is particularly beautiful and smells like a wellness spa- which I cant say for other bathhouses Ive been too.
I learned that this hotel (where I am staying as a guest) has been in existence since In addition, the Deutsche Eiche has been a meeting place for gay activists since the s.

Lately I have been charting my progress (or lack thereof) in my attempts to rejoin gay society. In what is becoming an increasingly difficult exercise, I found that I have been beating around the proverbial bush for too long.
I knew I had to up the ante. I would require to leave the comfort of my isolated world behind and seek out a new frontier.
The Gay Bathhouse has been an protest of awe, myth and great speculation for me ever since I first heard they existed.
I dont even understand how common it is for gay men to attend bathhouses. However, no exploration of gay life would be complete without a visit to one of these mythic fortresses.
The greatest test I faced was getting my damn feet through the front door. The first night I planned on going, I chickened out and ran place to watch several episodes of Dynasty, instead.

Did you know that men have been cruising each other for sex at bathhouses since the 15th century?
While the original intention of mens bathhouses may have been hygiene, today’s gay bathhouses or saunas, along with other types of sex-on-premises-venue (SOPV) or sex venues, are intended as places where you can meet others for casual sex. SOPVs offer a place to search and play with a wider variety of people, many of whom might not appear on a dating app grid.
Walking around a gay sauna or SOPV, you might quickly realise a whole new verb of rules is at play; with everything from navigating consent to being comfortable in a sexualised space, there can be a lot to study. Here’s what you should know before heading into a sex venue for the first time.
How does a gay sauna operate?
Like a hotel, you’ll come at your venue, and there will be a front desk where you’ll pay an admission fee, and in return, you’ll acquire a locker key and a towel.
From there, it’s a matter of heading to the changerooms to change into the towel and store your clothes in a locker. Upon arriving, many p
A Gay Trek Across Europe, Night 5: My Very First Gay Sauna Experience
I walked past the entrance a number of times. Its inconspicuous, black façade helps with discretion … almost too well. When I entered the gay sauna on my fifth evening of traversing through Europe, now in Brussels, I handed the man behind the glass my money and he didn’t say a word. Neither did I. He simply gave me a locker key, towels and pointed me downstairs. The harmony was mellow, European house music. There was a unwavering thumpa-thumpa, without being overbearing. In reality, it was oddly soothing.
This space is called Macho Sauna, and it’s the first gay sauna I’ve ever been to in my life. To tell it was life-changing would be slight hyperbole, but I will say I have a much better sense of how cruising culture was prior to gay apps and the closure of dark rooms and saunas in many parts of the United States.
Macho is the biggest gay sauna in Brussels, with a whopping six floors. The first floor is comprised of locker rooms. The second includes a pool, bar (where you can order noun and drinks), a Jacuzzi, sauna,
